With or without COVID-19, all of us will one day pass away. The real tragedy here is passing away (into eternity) without God and Jesus.
Let’s not get distracted or sidetracked. Corona virus is not really the issue here – eternity is. Life without God forever is. No matter how it may happen, all of us will one day come to the end of our lives here on earth. It is a given, an absolute certainty. Just a matter of time. From the day we are born we are all internally wired to count down to the day we die.
It is our eternities, our lives that will never come to an end, our lives after this one we need to be concerned about and addressing as a matter of priority.
Is your eternity sorted? Have you secured your eternal life?
Is your eternal life secure?
Are you secure in the knowledge of your eternal destiny?
Because you can be. It is not only possible but within your reach to be certain of eternal security.
It is God Himself, the author of life who has catered for our eternal security and made it accessible to us, provided the means for it – out of His love for us. Moved by His unfazed love for humanity, God made a way. He made it possible – through faith in Christ Jesus His Son – for every person to escape the indescribable tragedy of eternity without Him. Jesus is the way to God the Father. Jesus is the only way to eternal safety and security. He is the only way to circumvent this tragedy of unspeakable proportions that awaits all of us without Him.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Ephesians 2:4-5
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—
Your salvation is in your hands. It basically involves two things: God’s gift, graciously provided out of His love, and your acceptance of His gift by your faith. Ephesians 2:8
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
God’s gift of His Son was given so that by faith in Him we secure eternal life. It is not a hit and miss affair but full-proof and instant: John 5:24
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
You see, the first death is one which we have no choice over – we have no say in it – we all get die. The second is a death over which we do have a choice – we have a say in that one. We have a way out from it if we choose to. His name is Jesus. Jesus is that way out. And this way out is not difficult or distant. It is very close, very near to each and everyone of us. Christianity is a confessional faith and confession is a result of conviction in one’s heart. Romans 10:8-9
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Only those who put their faith in God’s Son are guaranteed a place in His family and eternal life with Him: John 1:12-13
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
Your path to becoming a child of God is none other than your faith and acceptance of Jesus Christ who confers upon you divine rights of childhood in God’s family. This is not attainable any other way or anywhere else.
COVID-19 or not, put your faith firmly in Christ and confess Him to secure your eternity.
