How would you like 2018 to turn out for you – career-wise, education-wise, relationships-wise?
Would you not that God’s “good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2) come to pass in your life in 2018?
Do you want to walk in the will of the Divine for you?
If so, have you intentionally dedicated the year to the Lord? Have you purposefully and particularly taken the time out to seek Him and His involvement in all aspects of your life this year? Or you have just left it to chance and fortune – like the roll of the dice – whatever happens, happens?
Don’t leave your life to chance but take control over it by intentionally and strategically dedicating every aspect of your life to Christ now, at the start of this New Year.
You see, God’s will for us is always the unparalleled best because of who He is, His essential attributes – basically four of them – Omniscient (All knowing), Creator, Loving and (Omnipotent) Almighty.
Creator:
Because God is all-knowing and by extension knows each one of us inside out, He knows what is best and works best for us – He made us!
Psalm 100:3 Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. He is our Maker!
Psalm 95:6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
Psalm 139:13 For it was You who created my inward parts; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.
We are God’s handiwork, His workmanship.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
All-knowing
He knows us inside out better than we know ourselves and therefore knows what is best for us. Everything that there is to know about us God knew even before we appeared on the face of the earth – that is how awesome, deep and extensive God’s knowledge of you and me is.
Psalm 139:16 Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.
God does not need to rely on guesswork or chance when it comes to His plans and purposes for us. He knows what is best for every one of His children as there is nothing about you and me that escapes Him or He is unaware of – even those things that escape us and we are unaware of about ourselves.
Psalm 139:1 – 4
O LORD, you have searched me and known me!
You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar.
You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways.
Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
Loving
But it is not only His comprehensive knowledge of us and the fact that He made us but it is also because God is love and all His actions and decisions toward us stem from this love that we have confidence in His intention toward us and the goodness of His will for us. Scripture categorically tells us that God is love, that love is who God is.
1 John 4:8 Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
In other words, love is the essence of God’s person and nature. We can therefore be confident that His plans and purposes for us are consistent with His essential nature the demonstration of which climaxed in the sacrifice of His Son for our sins while we were not even able to understand and appreciate it.
1 John 4:1 In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
All God’s plans and purposes for us are formed and constructed under the banner of His undying and indestructible love for us.
Jeremiah 31:3 …I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.
Romans 8:38 – 39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Song of Songs 2:4 He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love.
Love is God’s declared intention over us in all things and at all times. God’s will for us is essentially driven and engineered by His intense and unchanging love for His own. There is no other (hidden or otherwise) agenda God has over you and me but love. He desires our best, plans what is best and works for the best because His sole agenda over us is love. God is at all times driven and controlled by His quintessential nature of love.
Almighty
Finally, not only is God well intentioned in His plans and purposes for us but is He is well able to bring them to pass. By His very nature, He is Almighty and all-powerful, perfectly able to bring to about His purposes in the lives of those who trust and look up to Him. In fact, He is on a constant lookout for those who wholeheartedly, fully and consistently put their trust in Him in order to reward their trust and show Himself strong on their behalf – but only on behalf of those who place their trust in Him continually and intentionally.
2 Chronicles 16:9 For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him (completely His, set on Him)….
Are you that person who intentionally chooses to trust in God for everything in your life? If so demonstrate that trust by intentionally taking the time out to dedicate the entire 2018 – right at the start – to Him giving Him the license to show Himself strong on your behalf.
Even if you are not yet that person, strive to be that person in order to experience the strength of the Almighty working on your behalf by taking time out to call upon Him and express trust in Him by intentionally dedicating your life to Him for His intervention and direction.
It takes an intentionality of purpose and decisiveness to demonstrate one’s complete trust in God for our lives. Do it!
