…that in all things He may have the preeminence. Colossians 1:18 (NKJV)

A compass’s tried, tested and trusted ability to lead ships of all sizes and shapes and their entire crews to their desired destinations rests on one thing and one thing only – its ability to align itself with earth’s larger and dominant magnetic field. In as much as it accurately and consistently does that without interference and interruption from other magnetic fields, forces that would derail and subvert it from its course, it is absolutely relied upon to deliver.

So also with us.

In as much as we consistently and comprehensively align ourselves with God’s unchanging and overarching masterplan of Christ having preeminence in all things – we are pretty much guaranteed to stay on the right course and arrive at our God-intended destinations too. Just like the compass aligns itself with the earth’s larger magnetic field and taps into it to guarantee accuracy of course and certainty of destination.

God’s first and final plan, at the beginning of creation and in His plan of its restoration, is so that Christ may have first place, ie preeminence in everything. In other words there is nothing that God would not have Christ have the preeminence in. That is why His declared plan, the revealed “mystery” of His will for the end times, in due course is to bring everything – both in heaven and on earth – under the authority of Christ alone. Eph 1:9 —10

making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

Christ is the centrepiece of God’s plan of salvation and of restoring everything to Himself. This is the masterplan, the blueprint God is consistently working from throughout time and eternity and from which He will never swerve or rest until He has accomplished it. Hebrews 1:13

The LORD says to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.”

Rest assured. God is determined and resolute in bringing all things under the authority of His Son Jesus Christ and ensuring His preeminence in all things. This was His original and is His final intent.

How well is your life aligned with God’s first and last, original and final, unchanging intent throughout time and eternity to give Christ first place in all things?

Does Christ have preeminence, ie first place in all areas of your life?

Or you are still the preeminent one in your life?

If so you are definitely not operating according to the Creator’s unchanging agenda but a different one.

You see, when you give Christ the preeminent and unparalleled position in your life you are aligning yourself with God’s eternal agenda and are certain to succeed. How? Just like the compass that ships and entire crews totally trust and rely on – literally stake their life on – you too will always be on the right course, moving in the right direction and assured at arriving at your correct destination, the one intended for you by God Himself.

The earth’s huge magnetic field compares to God’s unchanged masterplan, the one He is consistently working from that we need to align ourselves with by offering Christ first place in everything in our lives here and now in order to remain on course and in the right direction for our desired destinations in life.
